ALESSANDRA MATTANZA
Alessandra Mattanza, fine art photographer, bestseller and multi-awarded author, and multimedia artist, took her first photo when she was only six years old, and she still remembers it. It was a photo of a tree in the Italian countryside. She has been fascinated by writing and photography ever since and made it her life’s passion despite the challenges she faced as an artist. She studied art, literature, philosophy, and theatre at the University Ca’ Foscari in Venice and photography at the Akademie der Bayerischen Presse in Munich. She also learned from many famous photographers with whom she has collaborated and traveled the world since she was very young.
She has lived in Venice and Franciacorta, Italy; in Brussels, Belgium; in Amsterdam, Holland; in Madrid, Spain; in London, England; in Edinburgh, Scotland; in Dublin, Ireland; in Paris, France; in Munich and Berlin, Germany; in French Polynesia; in Nairobi, Kenya; in Accra, Ghana; in Sydney and in Perth, Australia, but also traveled around the country for over one year to write a book. At the moment, she splits her time between Munich, Helsinki, New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, and still frequently travels around the world.
Alessandra has been working as a writer, journalist, and photographer for several magazines, such as Forbes, F, Natural Style, ICON, Vanity Fair, Cosmopolitan, ELLE, GRAZIA, FLAIR, How to Spend It, GQ, and Conde Nast Traveller; newspapers, such as Süddeutsche Zeitung; and publishing companies, including White Star Publishers / National Geographic, Giunti / Feltrinelli, Hearst, Random House, Conde Nast, Financial Times, Mondadori, Sperling & Kupfer, Rizzoli, Hachette, and Domus. Usually focusing on art and culture, biographies and interviews, or specific social or environmental issues, Alessandra also works in the production and development of campaigns, videos, and documentary films.

Alessandra exhibits fine art photography around the world in art galleries, luxury hotels, and museums, besides developing multimedia campaigns that support causes in human and social rights, equality, antiracism, indigenous rights, environment, animals, the support of emerging artists, culture, and the arts.
Alessandra has won many prizes at the National Journalism Awards in Los Angeles.
